Our Team
Each of our clients receive a dedicated Client Service Manager (CSM) who have a very detailed knowledge of your situation. They are often the first point of call within the office being able to answer the majority of queries. With a skill set that many advisers in the industry would struggle to match, our CSM's are a valuable resource to not only the business but also our clients.
The team at SJButler Financial Planning have a collaboration approach when dealing with all clients, meaning you will benefit from the experience the whole team has to offer. When you become clients you not only have a dedicated adviser but also a dedicated client service manager who is supported by an administration officer and you are welcomed by our receptionist who’s always happy to bring you a quality coffee.
OUR ADVISERS
Shane Butler
Shane is the founder and principal adviser within SJButler Financial Planning. Shane started the practice over 20 years ago, following on from experience within the insurance and banking industries.
The business has flourished over the years on the basis of one simple tenet.
“Advise clients as you would expect to be advised”.
Shane has been a proponent of a fee based advice approach since the early 1990’s. He has always believed that commissions and product sales based advice created conflicts.
It is only now that the financial planning industry has accepted these conflicts and commission based remuneration is now “banned” by law.
Shane is a Certified Financial Planner as well as an Accredited SMSF Specialist Adviser.
He believes one the virtues of 30 years industry experience is as markets inevitably move through cycles;

Matt Austin
Matt came on board with SJ Butler in 2016 after completing a double degree in Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Sport Management at Federation University and has since completed his Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning. He is currently completing his Financial Adviser professional year and is a qualified broker having completed his Diploma of Finance and Mortgage Broking Management.
Outside of work Matt is kept busy by his 1 year old son and enjoys keeping fit, listening to music, watching sport and socialising with family and friends.
SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
Angela Towers
Angela first started her working life as a Secretary and later a Para Legal working in her hometown of Stawell as a Conveyancing Clerk and later in Horsham and Ararat in conveyancing and probate. After 20 years of law Angela decided it was time for a change of career.
Following the birth of her only daughter Celeste, Angela decided to look at a new career and commenced study in 2001.
Angela obtained her Bachelor of Commerce in 2006 and continued her studies to obtain a Masters of Accounting (Professional Practice). Angela is a current Fellow of the Institute of Public Accountants.
Angela became a partner in the Accounting firm Wilson Towers alongside Bruce Wilson in 2007 and later with Michelle James under the Accounting firm Wilson Towers Pty Ltd. She is now part of the SJ Butler Taxation team as a Senior Accountant.
Angela’s passion is in the area of Business Management and Tax advice. She also assists clients in all areas of compliance.
She is a registered Tax Agent and an ASIC registered Self-Managed Superannuation Fund Auditor.
Angela’s world outside Accounting sees her working closely with her husband Jeff breaking in, educating and training Harness Racing horses. Her plan is to win an Interdominion!
Benjamin Molloy
Benjamin Molloy is a seasoned Senior Tax Accountant with a decade of experience in the accounting industry. Proficient in tax preparation, financial statements, auditing, and accounting, he brings a wealth of expertise to every project. Benjamin holds a Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Management degree, specializing in Accounting/Marketing from the University of Ballarat.
