Shane is the founder and principal adviser within SJButler Financial Planning. Shane started the practice over 20 years ago, following on from experience within the insurance and banking industries.
The business has flourished over the years on the basis of one simple tenet.
"Advise clients as you would expect to be advised".
Shane has been a proponent of a fee based advice approach since the early 1990's. He has always believed that commissions and product sales based advice created conflicts.
It is only now that the financial planning industry has accepted these conflicts and commission based remuneration is now "banned" by law.
Shane is a Certified Financial Planner as well as an Accredited SMSF Specialist Adviser.
He believes one the virtues of 30 years industry experience is as markets inevitably move through cycles;
"I have seen this all before"
Nathan has been an adviser with SJButler for over 5 years and an adviser within the industry for 10 years. Previous roles throughout country Victoria and NSW, as well as Melbourne were followed by a around the world trip. Upon returning to Australia Nathan then settled back in Ballarat - his home town, and commenced with SJButler.
Nathan has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree along with an Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning and enjoys continual studies.
Nathan has a young family with two girls. He has participated in just about every sport you can imagine, although the participation has slowed since commencing a family.
Each of our clients receive a dedicated Client Service Manager (CSM) who have a very detailed knowledge of your situation. They are often the first point of call within the office being able to answer the majority of queries. With a skill set that many advisers in the industry would struggle to match, our CSM's are a valuable resource to not only the business but also our clients.
Emily joined SJButler Financial Planning in 2013, and has grown and developed her skills as a valuable member of our team. Emily has a Bachelor Degree in Business from Federation University and currently enjoys ongoing studies in a Diploma of Financial Planning. Outside of work Emily's hobbies include fitness, photography and travelling.
Steve has 10 years experience with a Big 4 bank throughout country and Metropolitan Victoria. He returned to his hometown of Ballarat to raise a family, in which time he also owned and operated a small business locally for 7 years. Steve joined the SJButler team in 2014 and has been a welcome addition, assisting in incorporating debt advice to clients. Steve has a Diploma in Finance and Mortgage Broking as well as a Diploma of Financial Planning and enjoys continual study in this field. Outside of work, Steve enjoys exploring the food and wine scene, travelling, sports and spending time with his family.
